Totman I used to walk from Cheshunt Station to the lock keepers house the one before King,s Weir to cross the Lee navigation then walk back to fish the River Lea LAA Section. Would have been about the same time. :Thumb:

Some strange ones in there! New Look - Carp - Hunter - Ledgerstrike - Amwell - etc. How do we distinguish them? Fittings? They are about 1 pound or so cheaper it would seem.

It seems obvious that the 500/550/700 with the detachable butt were done as a cheaper version. £4 in the case of the 700!

Just to say, I purchased these 4 Chapman's rods about 25 years ago from a friend who only fished with the Peter Stone ledger strike . The other 3 have never been fished with all with original bags my friend lived not to far from Chapman's work shop in ware , think he was just a compulsive buyer.

New Look - Carp - Hunter - Ledgerstrike - Amwell - etc. will all have NL in black ink after the model name, they will probably have cork butt,s on the handle instead of a metal butt cap and rubber button and there will be no intermediate whipping. All this was done to bring the price down to compete with fibreglass rods coming onto the market.

Just to confuse you even more there was also a SP model

Have a look at Greentura,s reply on this post
