Valise is an old word for a briefcase, originally French, it meant any luggage or bag that can be carried by hand, but the English use generally meant a businessman's briefcase. Maybe intended for those business types who wanted to fish in their lunch break? :-)
Milward's did something similar aimed at the military, both coarse and fly rods. But such little-sectioned rods are great for taking on holiday.
