Lovely, don't you just wish he had been your Uncle or Grandad.

I caught many dace last season on the Trent, all trotting with maggots and bread flake. The biggest weighed 12 oz and put up on the 1.7 lb hooklength 18 hook and Drennan Ultralite 13 foot rod, a spendid scrap. I must have caught 10 dace over 8 oz on that day.

A 12 oz dace looks huge actually. When I first saw it I thought it was a chublet.

Little appeared to remain of the Out of Town broadcasts but Jack's Stepson, Simon Baddeley, unearthed separate audio and visual tapes at the South West Film & Television Archive. http://vimeo.com/40226507

'John Rose and Simon Baddeley, Jack Hargreaves' stepson, drove a transit van from Birmingham to the South West Film and Television Archive in Plymouth to collect films and tapes used to make Jack's' programmes 'Out of Town' on Southern Television between 1960-1981 and 'Old Country' for Channel 4 from 1982-1985'..........................

Whatever is held in the SWFTA remains to be seen and fully documented. It’s early days but hopefully they will start on the process to preserve this work.
