Ooh...an address for Lindop. You just never know when these questions will get answered! I confess to being a bit of a hook packer hoarder myself. I love those Milbro gut ones...they are very early indeed! Might even be from the Forties!

I had never considered their age so it's great to hear a possible date for the Milbro gut ones .
It is complete with 12 hooks in 4 packets of 3 each . The hooks look very basic and I'm not sure but they look like they are whipped onto the gut and then glued.

There are three things that improve with age: wine, friendship and water sense, and there's no short cut.

ImageThis hook packet circa 1900 is encapsulated under a 2” glass dome and wrapped in oak making a 5” paperweight.

If you have no grease with you, and your rings are full of ice, do not cut out the ice with a pen-knife but get your man to put the rings one by one in his mouth, and so to thaw the ice.

Corrrr! That's a bit special looking John.
Is it something you had made?
I walked across an empty land
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete.
