Hello Mark,
I use size 8 Jig hooks, (which have a small weight at the end and an offset eye. They are also useful for free lined Bread and are very sharp. Can't remember the Make but will let you know.

Des Taylor is the man for this.
I saw him give a 'walking the worm' demo at the Perchfishers' AGM a couple of years ago. Amazing stuff and so simple but effective.

Good though it is the man who is a revelation on every facet of dropshotting and jig fishing is Steve Collett; I recommend his youtube stuff . Very good presenter too

I'm now using Gamakatsu red drop shot hooks in 2 and 4. I often take some lobworms and then free line with the drop shot rod, I've landed decent double figure pike on these hooks.
